Duluth-Superior Maritime Club - Maritime Day Video

Each year on May 22, the United States celebrates National Maritime Day. This year, due to COVID-19, the Duluth-Superior Maritime Club couldn't host its usual festivities, but instead produced a video commemoration of Maritime Day and its importance for the Twin Ports, the Great Lakes region and the United States.

Jeffery's opinion of medical masks!

Hi Folks, Jeffery the gull here,

So, I see some humans around the area wearing these cool looking masks and overheard one of them saying that these masks are for the birds. So I found one in a trash can and tried it on.  To tell you the truth, it doesn't fit well when you have no ears to hang it on and it slips down when flying. It also makes it hard to eat popcorn, so, forget it.
And where are all the tourists by they way, I am getting tired of seafood.

Hi Folks, Fast Eddy the Falcon here. I stopped by to visit with Jeffery your seagull friend, but, he seemed quit upset that I was here, in fact they keep buzzing me. Must be that social distance requirement or something.
What an incredible sunrise this morning, God's handiwork never ceases to amaze me.
Well --- Stay safe, I'm going to go have some fun and scare some more of those pesky gulls.

End of Season 2019 Update!

With the arrival of the Hon James L Oberstar this morning the 2019 Shipping Season in Duluth has come to an end.
There will be two more boats arriving tomorrow in Superior.

I hope the Harbor Cams have provided a window to the Northland for you to view boats, weather, and people throughout the year.

Shipping will begin again in about 8 weeks.  All of the cameras will continue to operate during the off season so we can watch the ever changing sunrises and weather.

I will be working on some improvements to the internet services and other networking structures during the off season.

2020 Look Ahead
Projects -
1.Upgrade the network at Harbor Hub
2. Make network improvement at the Marine Museum and possibly upgrade the Canal Cam and use the existing Canal Cam to replace the Bridge Cam.
3. Continue to evaluate Youtube Streaming compared to Angelcam.

The cameras have taken a beating this year and I am very pleased with their performance. There will always be issues to fix, but, I very much enjoy doing this service.

Many thanks to all the viewers and supports throughout the season who have been so generous in support of the cams.

Have a wonderful winter season!
