The Algoma Intrepid backs out of the Duluth Shipping Canal 12/25/2020

In an unusual maneuver, the 650 ft Algoma Intrepid captain decided to avoid the harbor ice and back his way out of the Duluth Harbor this afternoon.
Even the typical boat/bridge salute was backward.
The Intrepid was built in 2020.

  1. Thanks Dennis, that was awesome. I have been watching them unload their salt. Hope we don't need all of it. Joan D.

  2. I have been watching the Duluth Harbor Cam for at least 6 years. I have never seen a ship do this before. It was really fun to watch. Thanks Dennis. You just never know what you are going to see.

    1. Algoma boats that unload at the salt docks have often backed out under the bridge, sometimes when it's been warmer but rainy or foggy, to avoid having to turn around....always a treat to see. Thanks, Dennis. Grammie Pat, Roberts, Wisconsin
