Indiana Harbor Emergency 360 Turn 12/01/2017
During a nighttime arrival, the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge experienced a malfunction that ended up diverting the 1000 ft Indiana Harbor into a 360 turn (Timelapse). Good communications between the Bridge Operator and Indiana Harbor Captain avoided a possible serious problem. (Audio is in the first minute of recording)

Paul R Tregurtha 360 Turn - 12/01/2017 (Timelapse)
People often ask why the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge raises, seemingly, before it really needs to. This morning as the 1000ft Paul R Tregurtha approached the Duluth Shipping Canal, the bridge suddenly stopped raising leaving the captain of the Tregurtha no option but to make a quick decision in order to prevent a disaster.
The Tregurtha did a 360 turn while the bridge completed it's lift and safely entered the harbor.

Gale Warning Posted for Lake Superior!
With winds now approaching 50MPH, Gale Warnings have been posted for Lake Superior and the big boats are once again heading for shelter. Waves will reach 10-18 ft in the middle of the lake.
