Blue Moon through the Duluth North Pier Lighthouse!

Tonight's moon is called a blue moon because it is the second full moon occurring in one month — the first was on July 2. The occurrence happens about every 30 months, or so.

It's always a delight to stand on the shoreline and photograph a full moon rise over Lake Superior, especially when my wife of 40+ years is along with.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained.......Psalms 8:3

Never enough cams

This is the view from the duluthharborcam office in Duluth.
Now if I can just keep them all working.
I started out with one camera 10 years ago and have been blessed to be able to share the view.

This morning, the local fishing fleet headed out onto a calm Lake Superior and light fog. The sunrise made for a beautiful scene.

Leif Erickson Park's Rose Garden Tour 07/23/2015

This morning I let Buzz go for a flight over the Duluth Rose Garden.

With more then 3000 rose bushes representing more than 100 varieties, the Rose Garden sits atop the I-35 Freeway and is an especially enchanting place to visit in the late summer months when the roses are in full bloom and the fragrance acts like an instant tranquilizer.

Don't forget to go "Full Screen"on the video.

Duluth - A Working Port

With three Salties in port at the same time carrying various cargoes, dock works, crane operators, and others have little time for rest in the middle of summer.

Mid-summer photography in Duluth is great and even better from an airplane.

Boat Alerts now on Twitter

So, I am now going to start sending out boat alerts using a Twitter account that I just created called duluthharborcam. (the old method got too expensive)

If you want to get the Boat Alerts, just follow duluthharborcam on twitter.  The alerts will still only be when I see them coming.

I may recruit a few avid boat watchers to help me out on this by sending Boat Alert Tweets out as well.

Indiana Harbor arrived Duluth 7/10/2015 (Canal Mob)

While boat watchers are generally quiet and peaceful folks, they do tend to get riled up when boats such as the 1000 ft Indiana Harbor instigate shouting and applause by shining spotlights and blowing horns in the dark of night.

Bayfront Park July Fourthfest Schedule:

4:30 pm - 5:30 pm: The Circuit Breakers
5:50 pm - 6:50 pm: Bill and Kate Isles
7:10 pm - 8:25 pm: Jazz Central All Stars performance

10:05 pm - 10:09 pm: National Anthem (TBD)
10:10 pm: Fireworks Display synchronized to music on 95.7
Here is a summary of my camera operations plan for tonight's fireworks:

Visible Fireworks:
You should be able to view the fireworks from the Bridgecam, Harborcam, and Bayfront Cams

Audio: Hearing the ooos and aahs of the crowds at Canal Park is always fun. The Bridgecam, and Canal Cam will be the best cameras for sound.  I will also turn on sound for the Harborcam and Bayfront Cams to hear the fireworks and Bayfront Music.

Harborscan Cam Operation: I will have the Harborscan Cam zoomed into Bayfront Park for the evening and tun it for the fireworks display.

Enjoy the show either by attending live or through the cameras.

Happy Birthday America!
