The Walter J McCarthy Jr arrived through the Superior entry today for winter layup.  The CGC Alder escorted the 1000 footer through the icy waters of  St. Louis Bay.

The American Century, the third of the big boats that will be laying up in Duluth-Superior, came in through the Superior Entry, not visible by the Duluth cameras.

January Full Moon at Split Rock Lighthouse

The January Full Moon is always a treat to photograph because it rises directly behind Split Rock Lighthouse this time of year.  With this years warm weather and clear skies, the setting made for a great time to be on the shore of Lake Superior enjoying the blessing of a such a wonderful evening.
