Safe Shelter - Whitefish Point

Many of the large boats on Lake Superior are now hiding out from the frigid arctic blast on the east side of the lake near Whitefish Point to shelter from the strong west winds.

  1. Thanks Dennis, that would be a cool shot from land if able to capture most of them in the shot from the North...Troy

  2. I wondered about that! I saw about 4 ships there yesterday, but some went downlake through the locks. The MarineTraffic App has a winds option and they were quite strong. I wish I could be in Paradise to see this but that'll never happen! Not in winter. Casna

  3. You may need to zoom in on the Marine Traffic map to see more ships.

  4. Midday today (12/15) winds approaching 40 knots on Lake Huron and Lake Ontario with temps of -6c. Not a fun place to be at for sure.
