Clilia II Passenger Ship Tour

A few years ago, the Clilia II stopped in Duluth for a brief break. Not sure if everyone will be able to see this tour, but, it may be interesting to you. Best viewed Full Screen.

2018 Points of Interest

Hi Friends,

I am currently making up a list of points of interest around the area to photograph this year.

If you have anything in particular that you would like to see, I will put it on my list for 2018.

I plan on doing a lot of 360 panorama's this year.

Thanks,
Den

Edward L Ryerson - A Closer Look

Built in 1960, the 730 ft Edward L. Ryerson has shared the title "Queen of the Lakes" due to its beautiful design.
Currently docked in Superior Wisconsin, it is hoped that the Ryerson will be returned to service one of these days.

Learn more about the Edward L Ryerson at: Boatnerds and Duluth Shipping News.

Edward L Ryerson --- A Hidden Gem of the Harbor

One of the most beautiful boats on the Lakes is the Edward L Ryerson which is tucked away in a slip in Superior Wisconsin.  Someday, it may see service again.

I had a chance to stop over and see it this afternoon.  I took some video also that I will be including in the Aerial Harbor Tour.

The American Victory looks a bit worn out these days, but, still a beautiful boat and a huge part of maritime history.

Looking Back - Paul R Tregurtha grounding in Duluth - 2014

One of the most interesting occurrences that had to do with shipping in the Duluth harbor happen in 2014 when the 1000ft Paul R Tregurtha went aground near Bayfront Park.

This video shows some still images I took from a helicopter of the incident.  While the cause is unknown, thankfully no one was hurt.

Your Help is Needed! (again)

Hello cam watchers,

Thank you for all your support of the duluthharborcam.com website. In addition to an occasional fundraiser for cameras and services, I have relied on the ads that are posted on this website as well as visitors watching the boat videos on Youtube for operating revenue.

As you know, there are ads in the left-hand column that link to Youtube, as well as the videos. This has been a major part of the support for the harborcam operations.

This month, Youtube changed their policies for small-time creators like myself and I will no longer be able to make any revenue from Youtube unless I can hit certain thresholds of subscribers 1000 (currently at 1017) and annual watch hours of 4000 (currently at 2500).

So, I need a big jump in annual watch hours and I have less than a month to get there. If we cannot meet these thresholds by February 20th, my channel will be dropped from the program and I will have to raise the operating funds by some other method. My goal is to cover as many monthly operating expenses with the Google Ads and then to have fundraisers to cover other additional expenses.

So, I am asking for your support by going to my Youtube Channel and subscribing and then watching as many of the boat videos that you can between now and February 20th, 2018. The Channel is HERE.

As you know, I enjoy watching the cams as much as you do and although I do not take any salary for what I do, I take great joy in knowing that there are thousands of folks out there, like yourself, who also enjoy the live views and boat videos of Duluth and Two Harbors.

Thanks for the help, I will keep you updated as we get closer to the deadline.

Ice Crystals forming inside of bubbles

So, this is what old photographers do in Minnesota when the temps drop. I took these videos from my back porch when the sun was setting at -5F.

These amazing ice crystals form rapidly inside the bubbles when blown onto icy snow in sub-zero temperatures.

I never cease to be amazed at the wonders of God's creation.

Thank You for another great season!

With the shipping season is almost done for awhile, I just thought I would say Thank You for all the great people who support this site and the cameras. The cams are part of my life and are my windows to the world.

Although I live in Duluth, I never get tired of the changing weather, boat traffic, sunrises and people watching through the cams.

Springtime is not far off now and the cameras will stay on so we can watch the weather and the seasons change.

I look forward the 2018 season and my goal will be to somehow get a camera down at the Wisconsin Entry, or. at least figure out what might work.

Enjoy the rest of winter and thanks again,

Den
