Camera Update!
11:30 AM 2/17/2014 - The two Visitor Center cameras (Canal Cam and Bridge Cam) remain down due to an internet connection issue. I will be meeting a cable technician Wednesday afternoon to try and resolve the problem.
I will keep you posted.
If anyone using Internet Explorer browser continues to have problems with error loading messages on thos page, please comment to this post. I have changed some page scripting that may help. Even though I don't really know what I am doing.

Camera Pages Change
FYI, there are some folks having trouble accessing this page due to some programming code.
In an effort to troubleshoot this issue, I have temporarily removed the thumbnail links on the right column.
Note that all of the cameras are still accessible through the camera text links on the right column.
I will continue to work on this issue and hope it is not too much of an inconvenience.
Hopefully I will have the bugs worked out by opening shipping in a few weeks.

Ice fishing on the Big Lake.
Now that the ice on Lake Superior is thickening up--Ice Fishermen are venturing out onto the big lake for the "Big Catch".
I sent the little photocopter up to take a quick look around. The fishermen are congregating off 21st Ave East, at least until the ice get's thicker further up the shore.

Visitor Center cameras off line until Tuesday
The two cameras at the Maritime Visitor Center are off line due to an internet connection issue. Because of the Presidents Day Holiday, I won't be able to get the cameras going until Tuesday.

John G Munson arrives Duluth 01/20/2015
With the arrival of the John G Munson this morning, the shipping season has come to a close.
End of Shipping Season!
With the arrival of the John G Munson, the 2014-2014 shipping season has sadly come to a closed.
While I will be posting the arrival video later today, I just want to thank everyone for all the wonderful support and conversation on this site. In 2014 we added a lot of camera capabilities and hope 2015 will be better than ever viewing.
Although there were a lot of memorable harbor events in 2014, I thing the grounding of the Paul R Tregurtha is the most interesting.
Until the shipping season starts again in Mid-March, the cameras will keep rolling except for maybe some cold weather shut down or minor maintenance.
Hope you have enjoyed the harborcams as much as I have over the years, have a great time in winter lay-up and see you in the spring.

Notice: Camera Operation in Extreme Cold!
Just a heads up: while the next two weeks will present some beautiful scenes of ice covered boats, it is likely that the cameras will go into automatic shutdown mode for at least part of the day to protect internal circuitry. I will post images that I take, however, my camera doesn't like the extreme cold very much either. With the weather forecast for the week predicting nothing above zero, we'll do the best we can.
