Big Boats and one Big Egg!

Update 3/31: So I went to fry up the huge egg from yesterday and found this egg within an egg.- I have heard of double yoke eggs, but, this is the first double shell egg that I have seen.

One of our chickens laid this whopper of an egg while we were out of town today.  I bet our neighbors heard her squawking. And I thought the 1000ft boats were big! (relatively speaking)

All cameras are now online and operating.   A new modem was installed at the Hillside location and the Wisconsin Point connections have been recalibrated.

Silver Bay Marina cams will be coming soon, however, the marina doesn't open until May, so it may be a few more weeks.

Hopefully, we have a smooth operation for a while.

Hillside Camera Streaming Issues

I have discovered that the internet connection at the Harbor Hub-- the hillside connection for Pier B, GLA, Harborcam, Hillside cam, and Bayfront has become intermittent.  Next week, I will have the internet provider switch out the modem and see if the issue is corrected.   I will look into the Wisconsin Point intermittent issue once this is resolved next week.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Tales from the harborcams - Two Harbors Airboat 03/02/2019

I watched the Two Harbors cam on Saturday, March 2, and watched a couple men go out on the lake in an Air Boat, like they use in the Everglades. I wanted to relay the experience I had watching something so unusual. These guys worked so hard getting ready for their fishing trip and it looked like they were taking everything but the kitchen sink. I was so shocked after watching them for close to an hour when they almost "flew" out onto the lake in this Air Boat. I had to laugh thinking I would love to know what they would think about an old 85-year-old lady, who lives about 30 miles west of Baltimore, Md. had been watching this very long procedure that morning. They must be a very die-hard fisherman to go to all that trouble just to go fishing, especially in the winter time. I really enjoy all the Duluth web cams and watch them quite a lot. Especially love to watch in the summer as the big ships come into the channel. Thanks for providing such fun enjoyment.

Joy Hild

Which saltie will be first in 2019?

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway. The FIRST first ship/saltie to arrive after the St. Lawrence Seaway opened in 1959 was the Ramon de Larrinaga (arrived May 3, 1959). Get out your crystal ball and see if you can predict the exact date and time the very first oceangoing vessel (“saltie”) of the 2019 shipping season will sail into the Port of Duluth-Superior beneath the Aerial Lift Bridge. Visit the Visit Duluth Contest page HERE for more info.
