Tales from the harborcams - Two Harbors Airboat 03/02/2019

I watched the Two Harbors cam on Saturday, March 2, and watched a couple men go out on the lake in an Air Boat, like they use in the Everglades. I wanted to relay the experience I had watching something so unusual. These guys worked so hard getting ready for their fishing trip and it looked like they were taking everything but the kitchen sink. I was so shocked after watching them for close to an hour when they almost "flew" out onto the lake in this Air Boat. I had to laugh thinking I would love to know what they would think about an old 85-year-old lady, who lives about 30 miles west of Baltimore, Md. had been watching this very long procedure that morning. They must be a very die-hard fisherman to go to all that trouble just to go fishing, especially in the winter time. I really enjoy all the Duluth web cams and watch them quite a lot. Especially love to watch in the summer as the big ships come into the channel. Thanks for providing such fun enjoyment.

Joy Hild

  1. Thank You Joy for sharing that. I would have loved to see them loading it up also. That was a site to see. I wouldn't have guessed anybody would use an air boat. Like you said they must be very die hard fisherman. I too love to watch the Duluth cams.

  3. I watched this too that morning and was quite amused. I didn't see the tracks in the evening when I looked to see if they made it back.

    1. Chris, a friend told me she did see an air boat come back around sunset. I hope I remember to watch next Saturday. It was between 8 and 9 am. Central time.

  5. My first thought was it was Conservation officers going to check things on the Lake. They sometimes use those airboats for accessing the lakes in the summer time

  6. I'm seeing a business opp here, maybe sub in an enclosed hovercraft for the open air airboat.

  8. Would it be accurate to say enthusiasts of this method of travel are airheads? 😂

    1. Not sure. The Alder will probably escort a few boats to Duluth once the Soo Locks open on the 25th of this month.
