Is it possible for the cameras to display the temperature? The Moosehead Lake (Maine) cams indicate that measure. In any event, your cams are the best on the Lakes and truly exceptional.
No, a temperature reading is not possible from the camera. However, there is a weather station on top of the Canal cam. It would be possible to add a weather station in Two Harbors and Silver Bay if we think it would be worthwhile. The weather stations cost about $200 each.
We have a FLIR and the primary use for us is to monitor our bees in two bee hives in the winter. The bees cluster around the queen and generate heat. We are in Maine, which has long winters, but not like northern Minnesota.
The Weather Channel is using your Canal Cam tonight!!!
It is 12 below here with a 25 below windchill this morning. Stay warm everybody and safe.
Glad you have that stove! You and your dog be safe.
Hi Dennis, thanks for all of your work on this site. Curious what happened to the Bayfront Cam link? It's disappeared from the list and it's one of my favorite views.
I found it! It's just farther down on the list and I overlooked it. Sorry
-16F and all cams still operational.
-22F and all cams still functioning.
I did a double take at the stove and had to make sure you hadn't broken into my house! Don't see them that often but the Woodstock we both have is worth its weight in iron and soapstone.
I have had the Woodstock for over 20 year and it is the same as when I bought it. When I stop burning wood in 10-15 years, I may make a safe out of it. It weighs over 400 lbs.
Dennis, as the former 'young buck' who was tasked with moving it three times for my father, I'm only too aware its weight...
