Edmund Fitzgerald Commemorative Beacon Lighting

The lighting of the beacon at Split Rock Lighthouse this evening commemorates the sinking of the freighter Edmund Fitzgerald and the loss of her 29 crew members  40 years ago today. The lighting also remembers all lives lost in Great Lakes shipwrecks.

    Beautiful photo! Great play of light and shadow, as evidenced by being able to see the design on the horn house roof tiles. Have it as my computer screen background (which is usually one of your photos). Keep 'em coming.
