Tall Ships Update

With the Tall Ships Festival coming up on just 12 days, the ships are making their way through the Great Lakes taking part in the Tall Ships Challenge. This weekend, they will be in Bay City Michigan.

During the next week I will occasionally post a map showing ship locations. You can also check the Tall Ships Challenge Map.

During the Duluth Tall Ships Festival I will be posting photographs throughout the event several times a day.

The Harborcams will be focused on the activity in hope of bringing it to you as a Real Life and Real Time event.

Chick Update!

It has been two weeks since I received my flock of tiny chicks in the mail.  Since that time they have grown significantly, so I thought I would post a new video update.  One suggestion is to use it as a video for your cat to watch!
I don't have a cat, but, to first time I introduced them to my 9 month old grandson, he was less then enthused and screamed in terror. The chicks huddled in a corner for about an hour.
I should have fresh eggs starting in October.

Viking Ship on the Move

The historic Lief Erikson Viking Ship was carefully moved from its cribbing in Lief Erikson Park to a city warehouse in West Duluth today. The replica ship will be completely renovated and returned to a more prominent spot in the park at a later date.

LaFarge Camera Update

12:00 - 06/24/2013 -- Update.  The Lafarge cam is now up and running with a new solar power system.
No guarantees, since I built this out of stuff I had laying around my shop. One thing for sure, I will continue to tinker and keep these cameras going.

06:00 6/24/2013--It has been two weeks since the Lafarge camera has been offline due to a power failure at the vacant plant.  During that time I have constructed a solar power supply that hopefully provide enough power for the camera system.

I will be moving the system to the top of the building today and with any luck have the camera up and running this afternoon.

Fog Finally Breaks

The heavy fog that has been laying over the Head of the Lakes finally blew out as the winds shift out if the east. Just in time to catch to CSL Laurentien departing into the retreating fog bank.
