Happy New Year 2021 - State of the Harborcams!

As we end another year of Harborcam Operations, I would like to wish everyone a Happy 2021 and take a minute to update you on where we are and where we are going in 2021.

First off, "thank you" to the great Moderators on the chat site and the many visitors who support the camera operations throughout the year, especially for camera replacements and upgrades.

The harbor cams have been operating for 15 years now, and every year is exciting and challenging. The fun of watching weather, sunrises, boats, wildlife, and people becomes an addiction after a while.

Especially in 2020, the cameras have proven to be a virtual escape to those who had travel restrictions.

While I have little technical abilities and less business sense, this site's primary purpose is to share with visitors the beauty of Western Lake Superior, and somehow, it seems to work.

Camera Operations - all eleven cameras have worked amazingly well during 2020, and they have held up during storms, cold, heat, and sun. My hope is for continued reliability during 2021.

In 2021, I plan to replace the bridge cam since it the oldest camera on the system now. I will have to run a fundraiser when I do this project. I am sure there will be other routine failures that I will deal with as they arise.

I also hope to upgrade the camera resolution on the canal cam with higher internet speeds now available.

Happy New Year! We have a lot to be thankful for and a lot to look forward to in 2021!

God Bless!   Den
