A powerful thunderstorm rolled through the region early this morning producing incredible thunder and lightning. The storm dropped two inches of rain in 60 minutes.

  1. Beautiful. Dennis, is it possible to post that in real time (ie not fast motion)?

    1. The storm went on for an hour, I could do a 5 min recording.

  2. That sure was scary, I watched it live via the GLA cam. I so often wish I was in Duluth but this morning I was glad to be at home where the sun was shining brightly, ha! Thanks for the amazing video, that's a keeper!

  3. This is the first time I've noticed that light in the upper right corner of the bridge, it went red to green twice. Any idea what that is for?

    Thanks, nice video.

    1. The lights indicate currents in the canal -- probably variable currents due to the heavy rain.

  4. Thanks for sharing that video Dennis. I always wanted to see the lighting over the water, but I guess my timing has never been good. That was sure a nasty storm, so much rain. Looks almost like the storm we got in Madison today..Sun 6/30. Scary stuff. I was hoping no trees would blow down! I would be interested in seeing it in real time for the 5 min recording too. I was always wondering if you would have a video of a storm coming through, love to watch it, and not be in it..=)
