Lake Superior Northern Route

During the winter months, boats tend to take a different (Northern Route) across Lake Superior in order to avoid heavy ice buildup as they make their way. Today is no different.

  1. I think they are also running near the lee shore to avoid the prevailing winds.

  3. They are avoiding the lee shore by hugging the north shoreline with the NNW winds. Never far from a lee shore on Superior.
