The Speer has never had a boom, so to speak. She has a shuttle boom that's transverse mounted in front of the accommodation block that unloads port or starboard into a shore side hopper that runs the taconite by conveyor to dockside stockpiles. She's been on a dedicated run mostly to Conneaut, OH or Gary, IN for her whole career.
