There is a small heater inside the case of the canal cam that will melt the ice, however, it is building up faster than it can be melted. Once the winds change, it should clear up.
The cam is currently clear (10 am) and it looks like the southern lighthouse pier is getting hammered! Who needs the ocean when you have Lake Superior!
Thanks for the info about the canal cam heater. I'd been wondering how it happened that it was completely iced over earlier yesterday, and yet clear again later.
