Aerial Lift Bridge Control Room

While the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge is photographed from nearly every angle, not many folks know what it looks like inside the control room that sits midway in the center of the lift span.

From this control room, Bridge Operators monitor weather, boat traffic, road traffic, people on the ground and the instrumentation to operator the bridge.  It's and interesting job, and certainly the best office view in town.

Click HERE or on the image to step in and take a 360 view of the control room where the Bridge Operators work.

  1. Well, now I've seen it all. You've taken us to a place that I didn't think we'd be allowed to see. Maybe we can raise enough cash to get them another chair without Duck tape. Thanks Den, Penny in IL

    1. I see no harm in holding your favorite recliner together with duct tape. I've been begging my wife for years to let me apply the "handyman's secret weapon" to my favorite recliner...but NO I have to get a different one. On behalf of men (and women) everywhere who want to hang on to their comfort, I pledge 1 years supply of duct tape to hold the operators recliner together.

Thank Dennis, your efforts on this site can never be fully acknowledged or compensated for, hats off to you.

  2. No mini refrigerator for the poor operator. Gorgeous view however! Noticed both canal cams are being broadcasted in 2-4
sec. spurts with the sound of course being affected and not continuous as previously transmitted. Thank you again for your above and beyond efforts! No other cam operator in the world provide the first class service like you do for their viewers.

  7. Thanks, I have not seen that before. Hopefully that little room is a bathroom!

    1. Does that bathroom empty into the WI side or the MN side? :)
