Through trial and error, I have decided that the original duluthharborcam.com website is preferable to the new formatting.
Sometimes new, isn't always better.
Thanks for your patience and support over the past several weeks as I tried some different designs -- maybe I will try again during the off season next year.
Dennis
Dennis, In this case old is better! Thanks for trying tho!
ReplyDeleteLove it old or new, thanks for all your efforts. Would it be possible to have the spring shipping season show up a little sooner? Just kidding, thanks again.
ReplyDeleteEither way we enjoy it.Thanks
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know Dennis I too liked both formats and think it probably wasn’t the issue of Old Vs New as much as it was for people’s resistance to adapt to change. If I was you and your decision is based on feedback from site visitors I would recommend you taking smaller steps in site update so us older folks don’t get overwhelmed. lol Terry D. Cincinnati,Oh
ReplyDeleteAn interesting thing started happening on my computer when you switched back to the old format. Before the switch when I accessed your main page the vessel tracker AIS would load in the bottom of the webpage. When you made the switch to the new page and now back to the old page, the vessel tracker AIS opens in a separate window and the place it use to load on the main page is a white box. Also, the first time I open my browser in the morning and access your site, my internet explorer crashes. It seems to crash when attempting to open the vessel tracker AIS. When I reopen my browser it does not crash. I’m not sure what is happening.
ReplyDeleteTry resetting your browser history and cookies. The main reason I switched back to the old format (Blogger from Wordpress) is simplicity. I am hoping to get things back to normal by the first boat in a couple weeks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your patience.
I think you do a fantastic job and appreciate all your hard work. You have taken some awesome pictures! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteClearing my browser history, temporary files, and cookies does not help. I have this problem on both my work laptop and home computer.
ReplyDeleteAfter playing around a little more I discovered the browser (Microsoft IE) crashes when I access the page. After it crashes it does an auto recover. When it recovers the site loads. If I switch away from the site and go back the problem repeats itself.
If this is happening to anyone else -- please chime in.
ReplyDeleteI use Firefox and most of the site works perfectly but I also have the white box appear instead of the AIS map.I have cleared everything to no avail.
ReplyDeleteIf you click on the Active Harbor Traffic link (The dragon icon) on the right hand sidebar, do you get anything?
ReplyDeleteJust the link to the Google Earth download. The AIS map was always under that link.
ReplyDeletePlease ignore my last comment about the Google Earth link. When I reloaded your site the AIS was there.I may have caused the outage myself because I keep Java disabled most of the time now unless it's needed. If the map requires it then I was the cause.
