Camera Status Update!
All cameras are now online and operating. A new modem was installed at the Hillside location and the Wisconsin Point connections have been recalibrated.
Silver Bay Marina cams will be coming soon, however, the marina doesn't open until May, so it may be a few more weeks.
Hopefully, we have a smooth operation for a while.

Kaye E Barker arrived Two Harbors Friday afternoon to load its first cargo of Taconite for the season. The CGC Mackinaw broke its way into the harbor before arrival.
Hillside Camera Streaming Issues
I have discovered that the internet connection at the Harbor Hub-- the hillside connection for Pier B, GLA, Harborcam, Hillside cam, and Bayfront has become intermittent. Next week, I will have the internet provider switch out the modem and see if the issue is corrected. I will look into the Wisconsin Point intermittent issue once this is resolved next week.

Kaye E Barker departed Duluth early this afternoon bound for Two Harbors.
Breaking Up is Hard To Do! Cracking Ice in Superior!
The tug North Carolina worked hard this morning to break out the Lee A Tregurtha and Kaye E Barker. Ice was about a foot thick in the slip.

The Big Mack was out breaking harbor ice this morning. With 30mph winds and 50F temps, the ice won't last long. The Lakers will begin moving out tomorrow. Check harborlookout.com website.

CGC Alder arrived Duluth this evening to start cracking ice in its home port.

Morning Minute - Lake Superior Sunrise 03/17/2019
Color, ice, clouds, and water all came together this morning for a beautiful St, Patrick's Day sunrise.
Lake Superior Ice Cover Rapidly Decreasing
The ice cover in Lake Superior is rapidly decreasing with the warming temperatures. We should start seeing blue water on the horizon soon.
Ice will mainly be in the harbors by the end of the week.

The U.S. Coast Guard will begin Lake Superior ice-breaking operations next week
The U.S. Coast Guard will begin Lake Superior icebreaking operations on March 20.
The cutters Alder and Mackinaw will enter Lake Superior around Wednesday, March 20, to begin ice-breaking for the upcoming shipping season. They will begin in Whitefish Bay, on the far eastern part of the lake, and eventually, make their way to Duluth-Superior.
The Soo Locks are scheduled to open on March 25.

Canal Cam update!
Update: 3/8/2018 - 14:30 --- Complete - I will be tweaking the image over the next few days.
Thanks to all who donated to the new camera.
Tomorrow Friday, March 8th, I will be working on replacing the Canal Cam between 12:00 and 16:00. You can expect the camera to be offline during that time. With any luck, the new cam will be up and running later in the day.
