An interesting whistle sequence -- any special meaning?
I believe the Anderson blew the "formal" salute (3 long, 2 short) as opposed to the "informal" salute (1 long, 2 short). As always, the bridge responded in kind.
Thank you! I appreciate the info.
Why do the foreign vessels stay anchored outside the harbor?
The foreign vessels must wait their turn to load. the grain loading process takes much longer then taconite and coal.
Also the united states really tightened their security after 9/11,so foreign vessels (especially those countrys we were at war with) have to stay outside the harbor until our us coast guard officers and trained captains stay on the ship when the vessel arrives.
When it rains the hold has to remain closed. Grain is shipped at 13% moisture or less to keep mold from developing. The high quality Hard Winter Wheat and Durum from ND keeps them coming back. Great job Dennis keep up the good work and thank you
