It's odd to see the ice flowing out of the channel. Won't be long now before it's all frozen over this year.
The canal often stays open, but, the lake and harbor freeze up by the end of January, depending on the weather of course.
I don't know what's more amazing: the spectacular video, the fact the Algoway is still running, that AC Marine would dare send her into Lake Superior late in the season, or that boatnerds would get out of a nice warm bed on a frozen Sunday morning to watch her depart.
The sea smoke has a very eerie effect, different from fog or mist because it moves much faster and 'form-fits' the object more. Casna
Dennis ...your 'still' of the Algoway with the sea smoke reminds me of something Winslow Homer might have painted. ...Just lovely...thank you.
Just fantastic views from 3 camera perspectives.Thx. Den!!
Ditto on the comments by Ian Ross above, amazing and tough old laker and crew, with a great whistle too... amazing boatnerds also, except for the idiot standing on the breakwater wall and holding onto the light taking pix - as if that extra few feet would make a difference.
