June is usually a rainy foggy month in Duluth and this year has been no exception. On Wednesday, most boats stayed in the harbor as winds whipped up Lake Superior.
Although this picture depicts the shipping season in winter, only a few months down the road, the near term weather forecast is for clearing skies and warmer temperature----for now.

Not good for boat watching but it makes local wildflowers saturated with colors.

Docked in Agate Bay at Two Harbors, the Edna G. was the last coal-fired, steam-powered tugboat operating on Lake Superior. The mighty tug is retired and serves as an interpretive center administered by the Lake County Historical Society. The Edna G. was designated a National Historic Site in 1974.
With its spectacular harbor, cascading waterfalls, flowered parks, and green forests, Duluth has to be the most beautiful city on the continent. One of the best scenic vantage points to take in the entire landscape is from Enger Tower.
The five story, 80 foot, observation tower stands high on the hilltop and provides a sweeping panorama view 500 feet above Lake Superior.
This picture was taken by attaching my camera to a remote controlled photocopter and flying it up next to the tower.

Sunrises over Lake Superior are always beautiful, however, when God mixes in a few other special elements such as water vapor and light at just the right temperature, some stunning images are created.
This image was capture this morning by the Inner Harbor Cam.
A severe line of thunderstorms moved through the area and out across Lake Superior early Tuesday morning. This video was taken from the Inner Harbor Cam as the storm moved through with a rather impressive display of natures fireworks.
The Birchglen arrived just before the storm.
