When you take an hour long sunrise and pack it into a one minute timelapse, it tends to capture the beauty of a Superior Sunrise like nothing else can, other than sitting on a bench at Canal Park in Duluth that is.

Springtime is starting break in the Northland. As you can see from this mornings sunrise on the Canal Cam,  the sunrise azimuth is quickly moving North on the Lake Superior horizon.

Hard to believe that in another month, the daylight hours of light will be the same as nighttime hours of darkness. 

Winter Sunrise

The sunrise is now moving north, proclaiming that winter is almost over, despite the -50 windchill. Enjoy the cold while it lasts!

Superior Sunrise

Lake Superior sunrises are always beautiful, but, this mornings sunrise was exceptional.

Actually, it was nicer then this, but, the webcams are fairly limited in their capability to capture the full dynamic range of a scene. This is from the GLA cam.

After the Storm!

While some areas around the Northland received up to a foot of snow, the sunrise this morning was a sure reminder that Spring is here.

Fire and Ice

For a few minutes this morning, the rising sun cast an incredible crimson glow across the harbor ice.
These images were captured by the GLA cam atop the Great Lakes Aquarium.

Enger Park Overlook

While the view of Lake Superior and the Duluth Harbor is enjoyable any time of the day, an early morning sunrise viewed from the new Enger Park gazebo really brings together God's created beauty into one scene.

Just caught a glimpse of the Lake Superior Sunrise this morning.  This is why I have the Harbor Cameras!

Duluth Harbor Boat Traffic for Wednesday 1/10/2013

While the boat traffic is now slowing and getting ready to bed down for the rest of winter, the sunrises continue to be spectacular.
