Soo Locks Cam pointed to sky

It appears the Soo Locks cam is pointed skyward.  This is not my camera and I am not sure who to contact.  Hopefully it is fixed soon, but, there is not much I can do about it.

Arthur M Anderson departed Duluth 07/25/2019



Arthur M Anderson departed Duluth this evening with a new lease life and a new mission. 



The Anderson was the last boat to communicate with the Edmund Fitzgerald before it was lost in a powerful winter storm on November 9, 1975.

Power in the Wind - Industrial Swift

The Industrial Swift unloads more wind turbine blades at the Port today, adding to the storage stockpile.  The blades are in the foreground and the cylindrical pieces are tower sections. Large trucks  will move the components to wind farms in the Midwest.

Arthur M Anderson returning to service this week

According the the Duluth News Tribune, the Arthur M Anderson will be returning to service this week sometime. The Anderson was built the same year I was born -1952!

Big Boy Locomotive in Twin.

Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad’s Completion, Big Boy, one of the largest steam engines ever made is visiting Duluth this weekend. The Big Boy, built for the Union Pacific Railroad is an incredible machine to view.

Here you see it crossing a train trestle over the Nemadji River just outside Superior.

Canal and Bridge Cam offline

Update 14:40 7/5/19 == Due to heavy traffic in Canal Park, I was not able to get to the Maritime Visitor Center to check on the apparent internet problem. Fortunately, the service was restored at 14:30. I will continue to monitor the internet connection that affects the Canal Cam and Bridge. ----------------------------

 13:30 Friday, July 5th. It appears that the canal cams are offline. I will be checking into it.

Fireworks: Scheduled to go off at 22:10 Thursday  (depending on the weather)
The best view will be from the Hillside or Harborcams.  I will be using them to pan the FourthFest activities in Bayfront Park and the Harbor in general.
