Lichen, Schooners, and Lighthouses

A late September sail on the 50 foot schooner Hjordis, located in Grand Marais Minnesota, is a fitting end to the summer season. The orange colored lichen, a moss like fungus that clings to many of the Lake Superior rock outcroppings, makes for a colorful foreground as the Hjordes leaves the Grand Marais Harbor for an evening sail.
