Boat Traffic on Lake Superior

Update: 9/8/2011 -- A live map of this feature is now added to the bottom of this website.
Although it sometimes seems like there isn't much boat traffic in Duluth and Lake Superior, This map shows that acually it is quit busy. Each green arrow indicates a large boat making its way up or down the big lake.

  1. And that's likely without full zonal coverage of the lake - a few more AIS transponders transmitting from the right places would probably add a few more green arrows in some of those empty spaces!

This is great! Would it be possible to make this a regular part of your posting? Daily or perhaps every other day?

  4. Per Richards request, I have added a live Marine Traffic map at the bottom of the site.

  5. Answer for Richard. I go to links and click on Boat Locations AIS right from this page.

  6. That will work for a different version of AIS.

You should also be able to scroll to the bottom of this page and see a live map.
